Eye test for the year,
fresh set of viewpoints wanting to focus.
To take in new palettes and pen verse.
Words that dance as much as they sing,
words that bells respond to;
where carnivals cavort and walls to that fort are taken down.
Eyes to the left to consider what is truly right,
a new pupil in the class,
hand in the air.
Seeing that page anew to rethink the interpretation,
open a novel to turn up the volume;
make some noise.
Create moments where wonderment is visible in my gaze,
the laughter in my children’s voices;
rolling down green hills with gay abandon.
Eyes that hold attention and make ears listen,
standing up to give oxygen to the soul.
Spying a path less travelled and being brave enough to turn that corner,
to go knowingly round the bend.
Embracing the mad mans thesis,
putting the work in to lose control.
Eyes that trust,
look forwards and only roll to fondly recounted jokes.
What next?
Whatever it takes and wherever it takes me.
Here’s how to clinking communal cheer,
thanks for the lesson,
thank you for the love.
Let us flush our cheeks rosy pint atop the mountain,
look out to the horizon;
feel that rhythm in our adventurous hearts.
